Honeybun is a petite thatched chocolate box cottage with roses around the door parts of which date from the 16th Century. The owner has a flair for furnishings and has tastefully updated this dainty little abode. Honeybun is in the ideal location for country walks and a short 5 minute drive to several beach options. The cottage accepts one small, well behaved pet.
The ground floor accommodation comprises of a lounge with 2 two seater sofas and comes equipped with television, DVD and CD player. The kitchen/diner has a washer/dryer, dishwasher, fridge and freezer and a large window making the room feel nice and light. Bedroom one is on the ground floor and has twin 2ft 6 inch beds. There is a shower room with hand basin and toilet.
Up to the first floor you have bedroom two with a kingsize double bed and an en-suite bathroom.
Outside there is an enclosed garden with both a lawn and patio area. Car parking is available in the lane and bed linen hire is inclusive.
Osmington is a small village with narrow streets lined with picturesque thatched cottages. It is an excellent base if you are a keen walker or lover of the countryside, it lies on the south west coast path, and the views you get from walks in pretty much any direction are spectacular. Dominating the view inland is the famous Osmington White Horse, built in 1808 bu John Ranier, James Hamilton and John Wood to honour the king (George III, who was a frequent visitor to the area). The figure on the hillside depicts the King riding a horse but due to illness the King never returned to Weymouth and therefore never saw the landmark. The landmark is 85 metres long and 100 metres high and has recently been restored to its former glory.
Osmington Mills, just along from Osmington itslef, was a small fishing village and the local pub is aptly named as The Smugglers and is well worth a visit. The walk is again picturesque and will take roughly 10 minutes from Osmingotn village.Read less
