Greenbanks sits along the coastal path and is in actual fact the last house between Abbotsbury and the next village along the coast, West Bexington. This detached holiday home has commanding sea views and will sleep up to 10 guests in 5 star luxury. It has been completely refurbished and has many original features including an open fire making this a great choice all year round. Greenbanks has the added bonus that all four bedrooms have their own bathrooms. A 20 minute walk will take you to West Bexington in one direction, while 15 minutes the other way will take you into Abbotsbury so you have eating options in both directions if you don't want to take to your car. All walks, views and sunsets are fantastic from this location!
The accommodation at Greenbanks comprises of a living room that has French doors leading out and has an open fire, TV and DVD player. There is a conservatory, a dining room with excellent sea views and additional snug area for people to relax in. The kitchen comes well equipped with electric cooker, microwave, washing machine, tumble dryer, dishwasher and fridge/freezer. There is a double bedroom on the ground floor with its own wet room.
Up to the first floor there are 3 additional bedrooms, a super king size double en-suite with shower over bath and toilet, a twin zip and link (so can be set up as a double if desired) with en-suite shower room and another twin with zip and link that also has an additional 5ft day bed. There is a bathroom with shower over bath and a seperate toilet with sloping ceiling.
Outside is a lawned garden complete with furniture so you can sit out and enjoy those sunsets. There is also a terrace and ample parking. Your electricity, bed linen and towels are all included in the price.
There is evidence that Abbotsbury has been populated for the last 6,000 years. Today it is a bustling village in an enviable location with lots going on. The village itself is very pretty with many thatched cottages and early 15th century church of St Nicholas.Read more
Abbotsbury, although only a relatively small village, boasts no fewer than 8 studios and galleries. Regular exhibitions are held in an number of galleries by accomplished local artists working in a variety of mediums including handmade woods, carved stonework and contemporary award winning furniture. The village also has a fishing shop, grocers and bakers, butchers, antiques shopes and the famous Dorset Apple Cake shop.
Overlooking Abbotsbury is St Catherine's Chapel, a 14th century chapel built by monks as a place of pilgrimage and retreat. Set on a hill top it is well worth the walk to get to as it offers great views of the surrounding area, the sea and Abbotsbury village. Inside the chapel is well preserved and you instantly get a feel that this would have indeed been a good place for monks to come as a retreat.
Abbotsbury also has 3 of the most popular days out in Dorset, each appealing to a wide cross section of people and interests. The sub tropical gardens are open all year except over Christmas and was voted Garden of the Year in 2012 and has a 20 acre garden filled with rare and exotic plants from all over the world. Abbotsbury Swannery has appeared on the BBC's Springwatch and is a one of a kind. This is the only place in the world where you are able to walk through the heart of a colony of nesting Mute Swans. With over 600 swans, you can help hand feed at 12:00 and 4:00 daily from mid March to beginning of November. Finally, Abbotsbury Children's Farm will keep the under 11s entertained with a mix of goat feeding, guinea pig cuddling, pony riding and tractor racing. It is open 7 days a weel from mid March to Early September, and then weekends only until the end of October.
