In 1870-72, John Marius Wilson's Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales described Nottington like this: "NOTTINGTON, a village in Broadway and Buckland-Ripers parishes, Dorset; near the river Wey, 2½ miles N by W of Weymouth. It has a sulphurous spa, with pump-room and baths. Nottington House is the seat of Col. Steward."Read more
These days, not much has changed in Nottingham since these times. The village is still noted for the striking shape of the Spa House which was built in 1830. The spring itself dates back to 1660 and claims to have great power to cure all manner of sickness including cancer. If you are truly looking to get away from it all but still want easy access to Weymouth, Dorchester or other towns and villages in Dorset, then the location makes an excellent base for your stay.Read less
