Abbotsbury, although only a relatively small village, boasts no fewer than 8 studios and galleries. Regular exhibitions are held in an number of galleries by accomplished local artists working in a variety of mediums including handmade woods, carved stonework and contemporary award winning furniture. The village also has a fishing shop, grocers and bakers, butchers, antiques shopes and the famous Dorset Apple Cake shop.

Overlooking Abbotsbury is St Catherine's Chapel, a 14th century chapel built by monks as a place of pilgrimage and retreat. Set on a hill top it is well worth the walk to get to as it offers great views of the surrounding area, the sea and Abbotsbury village. Inside the chapel is well preserved and you instantly get a feel that this would have indeed been a good place for monks to come as a retreat.

Abbotsbury also has 3 of the most popular days out in Dorset, each appealing to a wide cross section of people and interests. The sub tropical gardens are open all year except over Christmas and was voted Garden of the Year in 2012 and has a 20 acre garden filled with rare and exotic plants from all over the world. Abbotsbury Swannery has appeared on the BBC's Springwatch and is a one of a kind. This is the only place in the world where you are able to walk through the heart of a colony of nesting Mute Swans. With over 600 swans, you can help hand feed at 12:00 and 4:00 daily from mid March to beginning of November. Finally, Abbotsbury Children's Farm will keep the under 11s entertained with a mix of goat feeding, guinea pig cuddling, pony riding and tractor racing. It is open 7 days a weel from mid March to Early September, and then weekends only until the end of October.

As to eating out, again you are spoilt for choice. There are a variety of pubs and tea rooms and the attractions all have a restaurant/cafe within their grounds.
