Located in Ringstead, Dorset
Apple Tree Cottage is a holiday cottage in Ringstead, Dorset, sleeping 3 and pet friendly brilliantly located for the beach, walks and the utter seclusion and beauty of the area
Apple Tree Cottage is located in one of my favourite Dorset holiday spots, Ringstead. This newly renovated cottage is situated behind the owner's home and is accessed via a path around the side of their garden. Ringstead is an excellent holiday location with a lovely beach, a great area for water sports enthusiasts (beware the reef at low tide!), plenty of amazing walks with some excellent views across the World Heritage Jurassic coastline and a pretty 15 minute walk will take you through to the Smugglers pub in Osmington. Definitely take a torch for the trip back! Ringstead Bay itself is a pretty 20 minute walk away either along the quiet lane or through the woods where there is also a beach cafe. This is perhaps the perfect romantic getaway but if you need to holiday with all the family then good news. Apple Tree Cottage also accepts one well behaved pet so everyone can enjoy the outstanding beauty and walks of Ringstead and the surrounding area.
The accommodation at Apple Tree Cottage comprises of an open plan kitchen/living and dining area with electric oven and hob, fridge, washing machine, TV and WiFi enabled throughout. There is one double bedroom with a bathroom with bath with shower over, basin and toilet.
Outside is a private courtyard garden complete with table and chairs which makes an excellent place to relax and plan your next days activities. There is off road parking for one car. Your fuel, power, bed linen and towels are all included in the price.
Ringstead is a small hamlet dominated by Ringstead Bay and beach, part of the Jurassic Coast. The beach is pebble and shingle with some sand, especially at low tide with rock pools at the western end. There is a reef quite close to shore whic becomes partially revealed at low tide and the beach can be a good place to look for fossils. For those that are windsurfing from here please note the reef has no respect for fins - I have lost count the amount of times I have connected with it!Read more
Ringstead has a long history and is noted in the Doomsday Book, but the small village mentioned there is east of the current village and now no longer exists. However, it has retained its excellent views of Weymouth and Portland and is an excellent base for walking with many options open to you including Durdle Door if you wish a longer walk.
There is a shop and cafe at Ringstead in the car park for the beach but that is as far as it goes. Part of Ringstead's charm is that fact that it is so small and out of the way. However, the Smuggler's at Osmington Mills, the next village on, is within easy walking distance along a coast path so you don't have to resort to taking to the car if you don't want to. If you do though, you are spoilt for choice in almost every direction.Read less
